Our Canadian cliffside wedding

I can’t believe its been 9 months since we got married! It seems like yesterday when we got engaged and started the whole planning process. I must admit I was one of those girls that started planning the perfect day as soon as I became a fiancé.

As our love story started in Canada we decided it would be the perfect place to get married, we also didn’t want to chance having a rainy English day. We got engaged in September and had planned to visit a handful of weddings while visiting family for Christmas, we also thought we wanted a Winter wedding… After landing in Ottawa to a very wet and cold -27 degree’s we quickly changed our mind. Since September is the beginning of the fall season when the trees change color and the weather is a bit more breezy we decided on September 20th 2019 (little did we know a heatwave was going to happen in September, making our wedding day a very HOT 28 degrees). As soon as we visited our venue we knew that’s where we wanted to get married and how it would look amazing on a fall day with the lovely views.

Fast forward a year and a half later, it was the most perfect day! Le Belvédère is awarded one of the loveliest wedding venues in Canada and now we know why. We had the pleasure of hosting 100 of our friends and family from around the world and our venue made it nothing but enjoyable for us. I could go on and on about how amazing everything was but let’s just jump straight into what you really want to see. As they say “ A picture is worth a thousand words”.

We had exclusive use of the whole venue which included the outside cliffside ceremony area, the outdoor bar, and fireplace as well as the modern barn. These pictures were taken before the decor was installed but as you can see you don’t need much decoration or any at all.

Our theme was burgundy, gold, and lots of greenery. Our tables we’re a mix of round and rectangular with our head table being just the newlyweds. I would definitely recommend hiring someone to decorate on the day, we prepped everything in advance and had absolutely nothing to worry about as everything was in good hands.

Hiring a makeup up artist and hairstylist for myself and all the girls was a lifesaver, it made the morning of the wedding so much more enjoyable. We got all dolled up while relaxing and having a few drinks.

When it came to choosing the men’s attire we started off by finding the groomsmen’s suits at a more affordable price and getting Gary’s suit custom made while keeping in mind the colors and textures. How handsome do they look? 😉

One of my favourite photos! I’m so glad the photographer recommended a picture of everyone who made our day so special.
